ORTHOTICS

Orthotics

An Orthotic is a medical device fabricated to support, align, prevent and / or correct deformities or to improve the function and mobility of the body. Foot orthotics are custom made “Insoles or Arch Supports ” that are worn in a person’s shoes.

A biomechanical assessment and gait analysis is performed to determine if foot orthotics would benefit a client. To fabricate foot orthotics, a Plaster of Paris cast of the patient’s foot is taken. From this mold, custom foot orthotics are fabricated on site at our facility using different materials to provide support and shock absorption.

Custom foot orthotics are the preferred treatment for foot pain and Plantar Fasciitis. They can also reduce muscular fatigue and can help to promote more efficient muscle performance. People who are active in sports may find custom orthotics helpful to increase endurance, strength and performance abilities. Individuals who are carrying more weight may find that orthotics relieve the additional stress that the extra weight puts on ligaments in their feet and legs. People with joint pain or who stand or walk on hard surfaces for considerable amounts of time each day or have had previous foot or leg injuries may benefit from custom foot orthotics.
